The regional meeting was organized by the National Accreditation Agency in education,the Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Career Development (AKKORK) and UNESCO on the basis of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration by the President of the Russian Federation (RASHiGS).
The regional meeting on quality assurance of UNESCO for the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia was opened by the Director of the National Accreditation Agency in education Izmailova L.S. and the Director of AKKORK Soboleva E.
The opening speech was made by the Head of the UNESCO Higher Education Department, Peter Wells, Executive Secretary of the UNESCO Commission in Russia, Ordzhonikidze G.
President of The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), Suzanne Karakhanyan delivered a report on "Quality in Higher Education".
At the plenary session of the regional meeting of UNESCO, Sholpan Kalanova, President of the Independent Kazakh Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (IQAA), delivered a presentation on the promotion of the European standards and guidelines (ESG) and the development of a quality assurance system in higher education in Kazakhstan, as well as the results of the work of the IQAA . The participants of the UNESCO regional meeting appreciated Kazakhstani successes in quality assurance in higher education and the results of the work of the IQAA.
On the second day of the UNESCO regional meeting, following speakers delivered a speech: the President of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), the Director of the Swiss Agency for Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AAQ), Christophe Grolimund, and the Director of the Centre for Quality assessment in Higher Education (SKVC, Lithuania), the President of the Network of Central and Eastern European Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (CEENQA), Nora Skaburskienė.
The UNESCO Regional Meeting helped participants to share the results achieved and outline the prospects for the development of quality assurance in higher education in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
